Trees Knoxville is hosting a series of seminars concerning trees in Knoxville from selecting trees, planting, handling invasive plants, and so much more. There are three seminars total. Details here.

Bike To Work Day - Friday, May 19th, 2017, 7:30 - 8:30AM. Market Square and other areas. Hosted by the TPO and I Bike KNX. Stop off at Market Square on your bike commute to work! Breakfast biscuits and drinks provided. Meet your fellow bike commuters.

Want to bike there, but aren't sure about the best route? Or would you just like some company along the way? Meet at one of these locations to join a guided ride:

6:45 a.m., Halls. Meet at Ace Hardware in Halls Center. 6950 Maynardville Pike.
7:15 a.m., North Knoxville. Meet at Office Depot/Food City parking lot on Broadway, 4212 N Broadway.
7:15 a.m., East Knoxville. Meet at Holston River Park, 3300 Holston Hills Road (top parking lot by pavilion).
7:15 a.m., Bearden. Meet at Third Creek Greenway trailhead, 130 Forest Park Blvd.
7:30 a.m., South Knoxville. Meet at 3701 Sevierville Pike (southeast corner of Sevierville Pk and Lancaster).

Volunteer Day at Seven Islands State Birding Park - May 20th, 2017, 9:30AM. Seven Islands State Birding Park, 2809 Kelly Lane, Kodak, TN. We need YOUR help at Seven Islands State Birding Park!

Regular Meetings & Announcements

The Green Party of Knox County regularly meets the second Monday of every month at 7:00 PM. We have recently moved our location to the Sustainable Future Center, 201 Ogle Avenue, in South Knoxville. This is a wonderful location that hosts many green activities.

Solidarity Circle. Discussion on pipelines and related issues such as fracking and mining. These are held on Market Square Mall (at the stage every Sunday at 2PM. Bring your own folding chair.

Democratic Socialists Meeting (DSA) meets first Monday of every month from 5:30-7:00PM at the Parish Hall, St James Episcopal Church, 1101 North Broadway, Knoxville.

The Platypus Group is a weekly reading/discussion group meeting on campus focused on the problems and possibilities historically inherited by the political Left. Every Thursday 7-9 pm at the Hodges library of the University of Tennessee Knoxville, room 235P on main floor. Website:

The Birdhouse is a community center that hosts several types of progressive events from theater and art to practical lectures. Keep up with what's happening at the Birdhouse here.

The Vegetarian Society of East Tennessee holds regular meetings on the first Sunday of each month, 6 pm, at the Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church, 2931 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN, 37919, one mile west of the UT campus. The cost to attend a regular monthly event is $4 per non-member, $3 per member, or $10 per family, with a potluck supper following each educational program. Please donate $5 to $7 extra if you are attending without bringing food or drinks. We are happy to list the events hosted by other organizations that promote a plant-based diet.
